The Ides of March
But this morning I dug myself out of the snow to travel the tretorious roads to work.
the dern groundhog saw his shadow last month and so he was right -- 6 more weeks of winter.... that puts us at the half-way mark...
oh - i want to run and play in the sun! i miss it so!!
shouldn't the ground hog see his shadow and then mean spring is near because the sun is out? and that he doesn't see his shadow because there is overcast crappy winter weather out and then that would mean longer winter weather?! thats always confused me....
Did you know that the "Ides of March" sounds like a frightful phrase - but really it just refers to the middle of the month... apparently, it was just the standard way of saying March 15.
The organization of the Roman calendar, was set up to where its months are organized around three days, each of which served as a reference point for counting the other days:
* Kalends (1st day of the month)
* Nones (the 7th day in March, May, July, and October; the 5th in the other months)
* Ides (the 15th day in March, May, July, and October; the 13th in the other months)
So - now I've shared some nerdiness with you.... I'd like to point out that I have been very successful in the past weeks to steer clear of the "Fracas in Fauquier", as well as getting along at home - and not letting every little thing get to me... hence - I am happy and less stressed.
This is very nice and pleasant for me - however the entertainment factor on my blog has suffered. Hmm. Well - I'll take keen and calm right now.
.... B U T ....
Don't fear! For I am still a neurotic mess! And I have found myself flustered!!
I was watching some TV this weekend... and though I can't quite remember what channel it was on it was a feature piece on Babies/Birth/Motherhood - and the lot... It was cute and interesting - UNTIL ...
this nice, smart, lady doctor was on talking about fertility in women... and i hear "women begin to decrease there chances of pregnancy, typically after the age of 26 - usually about 27 and above. this is due to the lesser production of eggs and can also be the age when other health risks can begin to effect a pregnancy..."
then i flip out - i have a mini- panic attack...
Why? I don't know! Is it the fact that I will be 27 in 10 months time.... and age is now a factor in my life.... is it becasue i dont want to produce deflated eggs.... i might want to have children, but maybe i need to have them right now before my eggs all dry up.... i am not even engaged... well do i want to get married... i dont have enough money for marriage or children... and what about chris....when is chris going to marry me.... my parents are crazy enough, let alone me.... i would stay home i think....i would through baby parties all the time.... the dogs would love it.... doesn't it hurt.... AAAHHHHAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!!
then i changed the channel and watched america's funniest animals

Sarnra,
I wish I had such a good head on my shoulders when I was your age. I started getting that feeling about having babies when I was 28 or 29. About marriage- I learned if I don't know I want to marry him and he hasn't asked me yet and I've been dating more than 6 mos. it's time to move on. If y'all are discussing it and moving forward, good. Just don't stay with a guy if he isn't interested in marriage and you know that is what you are ready for. That's what I learned anyhow and I'm 41. I never had children that I gave birth to, which I regret. I just didn't feel like it was right to have a child just to fill this need. My husband (who I met & married at 35) was widowed. He was left with a 2 year old and a 5 year old to raise on his own. I came along about a year later and we were married about a 1.5 years after that. That's how I became a Mom. It's been a rough road and we've had lots of therapy but it's all been worth it. The boys are 14 (on Sunday 17th) and 10 now. Being a Mom is the best thing in the world and I love my husband so much. Forgive my rambling and unsolicited advice. What I really am writing to you about is this: At 41, I have several friends who didn't become pregnant until their late 30's with no problems. So, don't worry yet. You are a young chick! Just take good care of your body and you will be fine.
Peace and Blessings,
Julie
